Local News in Brief : 3 Men Sought in Fatal Attack Outside Market

Los Angeles police on Monday were looking for three suspects in a shooting that left one man dead and his friend injured.

Police said Jorge Rosales, 22, and Jose Mendoza, 21, were getting into a car parked in front of a supermarket at Sepulveda Boulevard and Nordhoff Street when they were shot about 9:45 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses reported seeing three men running from the scene.

Rosales, who was living with his sister in Mission Hills after moving from Colorado five days earlier, was killed. Mendoza, also of Mission Hills, was taken to an undisclosed hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Monday after undergoing surgery, officials said.

The identities of the suspects were not known, and a motive for the shooting has not been determined, police said.
