Local News in Brief : Woman Dies on Freeway

Share

A motorist traveling about 80 m.p.h. southbound on the Harbor Freeway was killed early Wednesday when her small foreign car smashed into a truck trailer that had become detached from its rig, the California Highway Patrol said. The dead woman was identified by county coroner officials as Brenda A. Dunn, 30, of Los Angeles.

“We don’t hear of too many accidents like this,” said Officer Ron Brack, explaining that the pin that holds the trailer to the tractor apparently broke or became unhitched, and the trailer rolled to a stop in the two inside lanes of the freeway north of Century Boulevard in South-Central Los Angeles about 12:30 a.m. The woman was behind the truck and may not have seen the trailer because it would have had no lights after it was unhitched, Brack said.
