El Monte : Reward for Safe Driving
Starting this week, some drivers may be pulled over by a police officer and given a gift certificate instead of a traffic ticket.
Motorcycle Officers Richard Thomas and Dan Makintosh will distribute $10 Vons gift certificates to safe drivers as part of a program to encourage traffic safety in the city. Vons, based in El Monte, has donated 50 certificates, which are redeemable at all Vons supermarkets.
