Sylmar Man, 27, Dies After Car Hits Pole
A 27-year-old Sylmar man was killed Thursday when he lost control of his BMW and it crashed into a curb, a mailbox and then a utility pole, Los Angeles police said.
Rafael Deloera died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center about an hour after the 3:30 a.m. accident, which occurred in the 15000 block of Roxford Street in Sylmar, police said.
There were no witnesses, but Officer John Baby said skid marks indicated that Deloera was traveling more than 60 m.p.h. while westbound in a 35-m.p.h. zone. Investigators had not determined why the car went out of control.
