Imagine, a young people’s romance set against the exotic backdrop of . . . debating.
That’s Weintraub Ent. Group’s “Mismatch,” in a nutshell. “It’s kind of the flip side to ‘Less Than Zero,’ ” we were told by associate producer Chuck Cooperman. “These people are our future leaders. They’re bright, concerned and just as passionate as anyone.”
Writer-director Douglas Day Stewart (“An Officer and a Gentleman”) starts filming shortly around town for producer Martin Bregman. Set at fictional Kenmont College, it focuses on two sophomores who argue and fall in love. Kirk Cameron is the young male debater; his female counterpart is not yet signed. James Garner portrays a professor.
