College Signings : Titans Sign L.A. Harbor Guard Hill

Mark Hill, a 6-foot 4-inch guard from Los Angeles Harbor College, has signed a national letter of intent to attend Cal State Fullerton.

Hill averaged 23 points a game last season for Harbor. He attended Locke High School.

Hill is the second community college player Fullerton Coach George McQuarn has signed during the spring signing period. Fullerton signed four high school players during the fall signing period.

UC Irvine signed two women’s basketball players--Keiba Lewis of Lincoln High School in San Diego and Kathy Lizarraga of Calexico High School--to national letters of intent Monday.

Lewis, a 6-0 forward from Lincoln, averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game her senior year.

Lizarraga, a 5-4 guard, averaged 27 points per game at Calexico and was named the most valuable player of the Desert Valley League. A three-year varsity basketball player, Lizarraga also lettered in cross-country and track and field.

The two players join Geanine Hobbs, a 6-1 forward from Carson’s Banning High, who signed a national letter of intent in November.

Capistrano Valley’s Matt Spence, a running back on the Cougars’ football team and an outfielder on the baseball team, has signed a national letter of intent with the University of Santa Clara.

Spence intends to play both baseball and football at Santa Clara, according to Capistrano Valley football Coach Eric Patton.

Spence also considered Air Force, Washington State and California.

Valerie Finley, Valencia High School softball catcher, has signed a letter of intent to attend San Diego State, said Pam Rapkin, sports information assistant. Finley, a 5-foot 8-inch senior, is hitting .320 for the Tigers.
