Wichita Wings midfielder Dave Hoggan was fined $2,100 and suspended for the first five games of the 1988-89 season for “maliciously head-butting” Socker midfielder Hugo Perez in Sunday’s regular season finale, according to a release issued by the Major Indoor Soccer League office Tuesday.
Hoggan was fined the mandatory $100 for receiving a red card and ejection Sunday and $2,000 for his action.
Socker midfielder Juli Veee went to Perez’s defense when the benches cleared Sunday, and he received a red card and ejection for going after Hoggan. But the league office said Veee said Veee would not be fined more than the mandatory $100 for a red card.
