‘Life Classes’
Canada, 1987, 115 minutes, 3 p.m. A young woman moves to the big city when she becomes pregnant. The title refers to her maturation, a slow but fascinating process. Director William MacGillivray provides this seemingly familiar tale with novel insight and texture. However, his style is overly methodical and often draws attention to itself rather than the story.
