Three people, including a suspected gang member, were seriously wounded Thursday night in three unrelated shootings in different parts of Los Angeles, authorities reported Friday.

In two of the incidents, the victims were ambushed by attackers armed with shotguns, investigators said.

The most seriously injured of the victims was a 19-year-old suspected gang member who was left partially paralyzed after he was shot in the neck during an apparent dispute with fellow gang members in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles.

Wilshire Division detectives said the shooting of Darren DeLean took place in a residence in the 800 block of South St. Andrews Place. Investigators declined to identify the gang but said those involved in the shooting escaped after it was reported to authorities. Detectives said they did not know what led up to the 8 p.m. shooting.

DeLean was reported in critical but stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday. A hospital spokesman said the extent of the paralysis could not be immediately determined by physicians.

Almost an hour before the Koreatown shooting, a Highland Park man was seriously wounded in an attack at Avenue 53 and Stratford Road as he was walking home from work, Northeast Division detectives said.

Detective Roy Gobel said Nabor Wong, 39, was wounded in the abdomen and legs when an assailant armed with a shotgun jumped out of a white van parked nearby and opened fire. “The victim staggered for a 100 feet before collapsing,” Gobel said.

The attacker got back into the van driven by another man and escaped. No motive for the shooting has been determined, Gobel said.

Wong was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena where he was reported Friday in critical but stable condition.

Later Thursday night, an 18-year-old Watts woman was shot in the upper chest and throat by an assailant who ambushed her with a shotgun, Southeast Division detectives said.

Sgt. Patrick Rosson said Antoinette McGuirk was walking home from a friend’s residence at 10:50 p.m. when she was shot near 96th Street and Compton Avenue. She was able to reach her home several blocks away before she collapsed.
