Fumes Force 10 to Flee Lighting Firm
Ten people were evacuated from a Burbank electrical firm Monday after workers complained of a suspicious odor and eye irritation.
A spokeswoman for Colortran, which produces theatrical lighting equipment at 1015 Chestnut St., said workers noticed the chemical odor about 1:20 p.m. She said the odor was confined to the rear of the plant and had dissipated by the time the Burbank Fire Department and officials from the Los Angeles County Hazardous Materials Team and Air Quality Management District arrived a few minutes later.
Lori Fitch, a Fire Department dispatcher, said investigators could not find the source of the odor.
The company spokeswoman said four workers were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for observation, but they later returned to work.
