Local News in Brief : Commuters to Receive Flyers on Street Work

Share

Los Angeles city workers will be on street corners handing out flyers to San Fernando Valley commuters Wednesday and Thursday, alerting them to a storm drain and resurfacing project that will close portions of Beverly Glen and Valley Vista boulevards.

Valley Vista will be closed between Beverly Glen and Van Nuys boulevards, beginning Monday. Commuters who use Valley Vista to reach Beverly Glen will be diverted to Moorpark Avenue and Ventura Boulevard until Beverly Glen closes June 20.

Valley Vista between Beverly Glen and Van Nuys, as well as Beverly Glen between Valley Vista and Mulholland Drive, will be closed until Aug. 20.

The work will pour an additional 2,300 cars per hour during peak commuting periods to other congested cross-mountain routes, most likely the San Diego Freeway, Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Laurel Canyon and Sepulveda boulevards.

The storm drain project is designed to relieve flooding that occurs in the area around Beverly Glen during major storms, according to county public works officials.

City workers also will pass out maps showing alternate routes during the construction period.
