Brow Browsing

Just browsing in the Parachute Store lately were Tim Curry of “Rocky Horror” fame (he said he needs a new suit), Robin Williams (he spent most of his time running up and down the store’s unusual ramps) and Brooke Shields in search of the perfect white jacket. The store’s Jim Kalin says Shields was especially easy to recognize, even through her dark glasses: “Those eyebrows.”

N.Y. Didn’t Make the Cut

Hair alert: the Jose Eber salon in the Beverly Center has a 20% discount to folks under 20 years old. But if you’re looking for a Day-Glo green beehive, stay away. Eber, who oversees the locks of Linda Gray, Victoria Principal et al., says he gears his shears toward folks who “want a sophisticated, glamorous look.” According to Laurent Dufourg, co-owner of the three California salons, franchising plans will allow loyal Eber-ists to be trimmed in Texas, Florida and Arizona by October. New Yorkers will have to do without. “We would have to be there,” he says, “and I won’t live in New York.”

Final Look

George “Ever-Bronze” Hamilton is gearing up for an Atami tan. No, it won’t come out of a bottle. Atami is the city in Japan that will be the backdrop for the final round of Elite modeling agency’s Look of the Year beauty pageant. The pageant, to be telecast live Sept. 15 and hosted by Hamilton, has 70 finalists from 35 countries. Grand prize is a $200,000 Elite contract. At a lunch here this week at St. James’s Club, 8358 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, Hamilton had some words of welcome for the Japanese executive producers of the show: “We’re glad you’re coming to our country, even though you own it.”

Doctor’s Prescription

What does a televison doctor do when she’s no longer on the rocks with Dudley Moore? Go shopping. We hear that Cynthia Sikes, who was Dr. Cavnero on NBC’s “St. Elsewhere” and plays opposite Moore in “Arthur on the Rocks,” was in the Laise Adzer boutique on Melrose Avenue earlier this week. The actress bought ankle-length skirts, scoop-neck tops and what store manager Maegan Hall describes as “a fabulous sundress with a crisscross back.”

Mimi’s Back in Town

Mimi Fayazi’s back in town. The former Los Angeles designer, who left in 1981 to raise her children in Florida, says she’s led “a lazy but happy life” for seven years. Now her children are 9 and 17, and she has the itch to design again. This time, she says, she’ll do evening wear made of imported French and Italian fabrics at retail prices ranging from $500 to $1,500.

New Face, New Name

“Nineteen years at the same location and we’ve never had a sale and we’ve never remodeled,” says Fred Hayman of his famous Giorgio shop in Beverly Hills, which inspired the perfume of the same name. But the time has come. So Fred Hayman’s Giorgio is having its first sale ever at the same time it undergoes its first face lift, both of which are starting now and will be completed by August. In January, Hayman will unveil a new name over the shop, and will endow his awning with new colors instead of the familiar yellow and white. As most everyone knows by now, Hayman sold his shop name, his signature colors and his fragrance to Avon Cosmetics.

Taut Tights

Forget about conventional workout attire. That’s not the right TV stuff for Claire Nettle, owner and director of the Stephan Studio in Beverly Hills. Nettle will be one of the celebrity trainers featured on KNBC’s “Entertainment Tonight” show Thursday. And to put actress Courteney (“Family Ties”) Cox through her paces, she “splurged” on tight, stretchy pants and a top by French designer Azzedine Alaia. Cox’s bicycle pants and cropped top are tame by comparison, and Nettle tells us they were chosen to show off the actress’ “wonderfully taut stomach.”

Nice Noose

Guests frequently ask Cafe Mondrian waiters to part with their artistically colored, modern art-influenced ties and cummerbunds. But no one was successful until last week when a persistent man was willing to pay $300 for the tie alone. (The lucky waiter is a struggling student who asked permission before making the deal.) We’re told by a spokesperson at the West Hollywood hotel that the only other non-employee to wear the unusual accessories on the premises is pianist Michael Feinstein. He played Gershwin show tunes in the cafe and was “discovered” there by Liza Minnelli.
