To gear up for this year’s fire season, the California Conservation Corps is conducting a special statewide hiring of young adults today.

“We’re looking at a very critical fire year and want to have as many corps members as possible trained to help out,” CCC Director Bud Sheble said.

Applicants should be 18 to 23 years old and not on probation or parole. Free medical exams will be provided. Those hired will be on the job in two weeks.

Along with fighting fires, the workers build parks and trails, plant trees, restore historic buildings and construct city playgrounds.

Those interested should visit the Garden Grove office of Community Project Inc., 12900 Garden Grove Blvd., Suite 145, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The phone number is (714) 594-4206.
