Getting Close to the Soviets in This Country and Theirs
I found it profoundly disturbing to read that Soviet bigwigs are being brought into this country by private groups. It does not matter how sincere they seem to be. The Soviet visitors are highly skilled in manipulating the situation in the type of setting described. This is evident by the responses of the Americans who took part in this exchange.
Americans have the reputation of being very gullible, and the Soviets know this very well. I would like to see laws that forbid private concerns from dealing with citizens of countries that are hostile to our basic philosophy.
