More than 25,000 visitors are expected Saturday as Golden West College hosts the annual community festival, an all-day event featuring entertainment, food and free information.

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is also available on any of the campus lots.

Beginning at 10 a.m., the campus quad area near Edinger and Golden West streets will have an array of booths and music locations. The festival will have activities for children, an “art walk” featuring talents of local artists, an emergency vehicle display and demonstrations by local police departments, including a SWAT team. Bands and singing groups will perform throughout the day.

“A special attraction is the car show, featuring pre-1970 hot rods, street rods and convertibles,” said Gerie Kirkpatrick, a spokeswoman for the community college.

Noting that the theme for the festival this year is “Let Freedom Ring,” Kirkpatrick said there will be a contest for persons wearing the best patriotic-type costume.
