Arcadia : Teachers Get Contract

Share

Teachers and Arcadia school officials have tentatively reached an agreement after 11 months of negotiating a three-year contract. Teachers would receive a 4.4% salary and benefit increase for the current school year, retroactive to July 1, 1987.

The Arcadia Teachers Assn. had sought to reopen negotiations for each of the two years remaining in the contract, as recommended by a fact finder. Instead, union negotiators agreed to salary raises of up to 4.5% for each of the next two years.

Assistant Supt. Mimi Hennessey said that if the Arcadia Unified School District receives enough additional state funding, the raises could be higher.

The contract worked out by school officials and union negotiators must be ratified by the teachers and the School Board.
