Torrance resident H. L. Dickerson, a golfer for 30 years, had the best round of his life recently at age 66. Playing Harbor Park’s nine-hole course, he scored two holes-in-one. Dickerson, who said he had one previous hole-in-one, aced the 165-yard fourth hole with a 5-wood. Then on the slightly downhill seventh hole he used a 7-iron to roll in a 135-yard shot, to the applause of his partners.

Dickerson finished the round with a 1-under-par 35 and required only nine putts. Golf Digest estimates the odds of making two holes-in-one on the same round as 42,952 to 1. Course manager Beverly Cox said the jubilant golfer “was stunned by it all. After all, there aren’t many golfers who have pulled off that trick.”
