Running back George Rogers, watched his career with the Washington Redskins fade away when backup Timmy Smith rushed for 204 yards in the Super Bowl. Now, Rogers, 29, hopes to catch on with the team the Redskins defeated, the Denver Broncos.
The 1980 Heisman Trophy winner from South Carolina cleared waivers this week to become a free agent.
“We’ll try to get him in here, give him a physical and work him out,” Bronco Coach Dan Reeves said.
