Brief Window of Sunshine in the Gloom

Share

San Diegans have two more days to bask in the sun before being enveloped once more in the gloomy weather that is typical of May and June.

The high temperature today for Lindbergh Field is expected to be about 78, 10 degrees higher than usual for this time of year, said meteorologist Wilbur Shigehara of the National Weather Service. Temperatures will continue to rise today and Saturday as Santa Ana winds bring warm desert air, but the fog and low clouds should start rolling into the coastal areas by Sunday, Shigehara said.

Today and Saturday coastal temperatures should reach 76-82 degrees, which will drop to 55-60 at night. Inland dwellers can expect highs of 82-90, and nighttime lows of 47-55.

The mountains will have gusty northeastern winds through Saturday morning, and high temperatures of 77-82. Mountain nights will be chilly, at 38-45 degrees. The deserts, which will also have wind gusts up to 15-25 m.p.h., will stay hot with temperatures in the high 90s, possibly up to 103 today and Saturday. Desert nights will cool to 55-60 degrees. Temperatures in all areas will be a few degrees cooler on Sunday.
