Local News in Brief : Panorama City Man Sought in Slaying
Los Angeles police were searching Monday for a Panorama City man who they believe shot and killed another man in a rent dispute.
Detective Al Ferrand said Evelio Padilla, 25, is the suspected gunman in the Sunday night slaying of Carlos Zepeda, 22, of Pacoima.
Zepeda was driving home from work with a cousin and younger brother when a red Chevrolet sedan forced his car to stop at Arroyo Avenue, near Foothill Boulevard, about 8 p.m., Ferrand said. A man stepped out of the sedan and shot Zepeda once in the face with a shotgun, Ferrand said. The cousin and brother were not injured.
Ferrand said Zepeda owed Padilla $1,500 in rent from when the two had earlier lived together.
