Last Two-Level Airport Terminal Building to Open

Share

Mayor Tom Bradley and several other officials will visit Los Angeles International Airport Tuesday to mark the opening of the redesigned Terminal 2, the last major terminal link along the airport’s new two-level roadway system.

The other terminals have already switched to the new system, which eases congestion by handling arrivals on the first floor and departures on the second. At 1:30 p.m., Bradley will cut four ribbons that represent the four carriers that own and operate Terminal 2--Northwest Airlines, Pan American World Airways, Air Canada and Hawaiian Airlines.

Leo A. Daly redesigned the terminal, and Turner Construction Co. was general contractor.
