2 KPBS-TV Shows Win Best Awards
“Date Rape: ‘No Isn’t Always Enough’ ” and “Take Three,” two television documentaries produced by San Diego’s KPBS-TV, won Best of the West awards presented last week by the PBS Pacific Mountain Network.
“Date Rape” is the second of three KPBS-produced programs featuring San Diego’s New Image Teen Theater to win a Best of the West award. “New Image Teens: Peer Pressure” earned the station an award in 1987. “Date Rape,” which was directed by Donn Johnson and produced by Sarah Luft, was funded by the Junior League of San Diego.
Paul Marshall produced and directed “Take Three,” a program featuring performances by dancers from San Diego-based 3’s Company. The production was funded by Las Patronas and Friends of 3’s Company.
“Date Rape” was cited for a Best in the West award in the informational category; “Take Three” in the cultural performance category.
