RV Addicts

The Gindick article brought back happy memories of a similar trip we took in 1966. After picking up a new car at the German factory, we bought a tent, two sleeping bags and camped in Europe for about six weeks. Also we added air mattresses, pillows and a one-burner gasoline stove.

Nearly every campground involved some sort of adventure. Most were pleasant, like the time we traded a bottle of cheap whiskey for a bottle of delicious Moselle wine with a soccer team camped nearby.

Two years later we took the same car and camping equipment for a trip to Alaska. There, most of the camping was more primitive than the campgrounds of Europe and far fewer people. But the gorgeous scenery and the solitude were as enjoyable as the trip to Europe. We wish we were still young enough to do it all again.
