A man was injured Sunday when he jumped out of his runaway pickup truck, which slammed into a house in Tujunga, Los Angeles police said.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, was driving his 1957 Ford truck downhill on Silverton Avenue about 4:45 p.m. when he lost his drive shaft and his brakes failed, said Officer Bill Mulvihill. The driver jumped out of the truck and fell, Mulvihill said.

His passenger remained in the truck, which smashed into a house in the 10100 block of Silverton Avenue. The passenger suffered only minor cuts and bruises and no one in the house was injured, Mulvihill said.
