RUIDOSO DOWNS, N.M. —
Okeydokey Baby broke fast and never trailed Sunday to win the $388,000 Kansas Futurity, the first leg of quarter-horse racing’s Triple Crown series at Ruidoso Downs.
The 2-year-old filly, ridden by James Lackey, covered the 350 yards in 17.69 seconds. She finished 1 lengths ahead of My Dash.
“She left the gate fast, and no one seemed to challenge her,” Lackey said. “They told me that she might drift in by the grandstand and she did just a bit, but she’s one fast filly.”
