Police are looking for a 60-year-old woman, recently diagnosed as having Alzheimer’s disease, who was last seen walking away from her North Hollywood home three days ago.

Mary Albrecht has been missing since Tuesday afternoon when her grandson saw her following a house mate as he left their home on El Caprice Avenue to vote at a nearby polling place, her daughter, Valerie Hamel, said.

But Albrecht’s house mate apparently was unaware that the woman was following him. “He says he didn’t see her,” said Hamel, who did not know the house mate’s full name. “It’s just strange. She just vanished . . . She has no identification, no money and she can’t communicate.”

Albrecht, who was diagnosed a month ago as having Alzheimer’s disease, disappeared in the vicinity of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Saticoy Street, said Detective Ed Bressell of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Albrecht was described as a white female with gray hair, green eyes, about 5-1 and 125 pounds. She is believed to be wearing a light blue and white shirt, light blue pants and white running shoes.

“I’m afraid she’s lost,” Hamel said. “She’s basically afraid of people. For her to disappear, something’s weird.”
