Local News in Brief : San Juan Capistrano : City OKs Plan to Save Archeological Finds

Share

The City Council has approved a plan to preserve archeological remnants discovered at the site of two construction projects.

The plans call for keeping intact the foundation of a 200-year-old orchard wall near Mission San Juan Capistrano. Workers discovered the wall while grading property on Del Obispo Street near Ortega Highway for a Sizzler restaurant.

The council action requires the developer to modify the building so it will not disturb the artifact, which will later be made accessible to the public.
