Local News in Brief : Man Dies When Truck Overturns on Freeway
A 48-year-old Burbank man died early Saturday after the small pickup truck he was driving on the Simi Valley-San Fernando Valley Freeway in Granada Hills overturned, ejecting him onto the roadway.
Larry Ricketts was traveling east when he lost control of the truck after driving onto the dirt center divider to pass other vehicles, said Officer Charlotte Foley of the California Highway Patrol.
The truck overturned and came to rest on the westbound side of the freeway near Balboa Boulevard about 12:10 a.m., Foley said.
Ricketts, who had no passengers in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved, Foley said.
