Baseball Roundup : North Hollywood Puts Legion Rival on Notice

Share

The rivalry between the baseball teams from North Hollywood and Poly highs has not been competitive for a number of years. Poly has won two consecutive East Valley League titles and North Hollywood has barely made it to the playoffs.

But if this American Legion season is any indicator, next season may be considerably better for the Huskies. North Hollywood beat Sun Valley, which draws from Poly, 8-7 and 13-2, to sweep a District 20 Eastern Division doubleheader Saturday at North Hollywood High.

Peter Salehyar, who graduated from North Hollywood, and sophomore Duane Braxton each had five hits in nine at-bats. Sophomore Erik Martinez had four hits and four runs batted in for North Hollywood (2-4), including a two-run triple during North Hollywood’s nine-run first inning in the second game.
