Whittier : Building Fee Waiver to End
July 1 will be the last day Whittier residents will be able to have fees waived for building permits and other earthquake-related repairs, but free earthquake debris pickup will continue through Oct. 1.
The waivers have cost the city about $35,500 a month, said Cynthia Herman, a city financial analyst. The City Council voted to extend the debris pickup until October because earthquake reconstruction is still going on in many areas.
