Abducted Daughter of Arizona Couple Sought in San Diego

The parents of a 9-year-old Arizona girl were in San Diego on Wednesday appealing for help in the search for their daughter, abducted from Flagstaff, Ariz., about noon June 6.

Because of anonymous sightings along Interstate 40, which leads from Arizona to Southern California, investigators believe that there is a possibility she was brought to the San Diego area.

Nancy and Rich Wilson have been looking for their daughter, Jennifer Marie Wilson, since she disappeared while riding a bicycle on a dirt road while the family was on vacation in Flagstaff. She was out of her mother’s sight for 10 to 20 minutes, according to published reports in Arizona.

The bicycle she was riding was found by the side of the road with no sign of the girl, said Anne Curtin, a spokeswoman for the family.

“There are a number of leads that do point to San Diego, and also some others that point to some other places,” Curtin said.

The girl’s disappearance 10 days ago touched off a massive search that has involved the FBI, Marines from the Yuma air base, police, sheriff’s departments, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and National Guard.

The girl is described as white, 4-foot-8, 60 pounds, with collar-length brown hair and bangs. She has hazel eyes, a light complexion, freckles and pierced ears.

When last seen she was wearing a long-sleeved, white pullover “Punky Brewster” shirt with red trim, faded blue jeans and tennis shoes with green toes and stars drawn on them.

The girl has been sighted with a dark-haired man, about 30 years old, who appeared to be agitated, Curtin said.
