Share

An embittered ex-husband killed a 79-year-old man and wounded another man in a shooting at an Alhambra house used as a Buddhist temple, police said Wednesday.

The 61-year-old gunman, whose ex-wife was inside the house, shot and killed himself just as police arrived after the Tuesday night ambush, Sgt. Jim Henchey said.

Two Buddhist nuns, a monk and three others, including the gunman’s ex-wife, escaped injury in the 8:55 p.m. attack by slamming the door when they heard the shooting.

Coroner’s officials identified the gunman as Dung-Fung Kuo of Monterey Park. The man he killed was identified as Ten Zou Yuo of Los Angeles. The identity of the suspect’s ex-wife was not released.

Henchey said the attack may have been triggered by the gunman’s belief that his ex-wife was having an affair.

The victims had apparently gone to the temple to worship and were leaving after dinner when they were attacked, police said.
