Twelve San Diego County high school seniors have been awarded educational grants-in-aid of $500 each from the Los Angeles Times Fund.

The San Diego County allocations are part of an annual program sponsored by the Times Fund that enables graduating high school students to continue their education in the next school year. Altogether, 200 public and parochial school students from Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties received grants totaling $100,000. Since the inception of the grants-in-aid program, the Times Fund has awarded more than 6,000 grants totaling more than $2.3 million.

This is the ninth year the Times Fund has included San Diego County schools.

“Through the grants-in-aid program, needy students are given the opportunity to pursue their personal and academic goals,” said Tom Johnson, publisher and chief executive officer of The Times and president of the Times Fund.
