Crime victim Brian Gast asked: “How much longer is this going to go on?”

And no wonder.

Late last month, Gast’s 10-speed bicycle was stolen from behind his house on The Strand in Hermosa Beach.

About three days after that, thieves made off with the convertible top of his Suzuki Samurai. Gast, 26, had replaced the top two days later when his car stereo was stolen.

That was the final straw, Gast said. The accountant with a downtown Los Angeles firm decided that he had to get rid of the Suzuki, which he called a “toy car.”

He paid a Santa Monica dealer $38,000 on June 10 for his dream car, a black Porsche 911 Targa.

The next day, as Gast parked near his home, a man pointed a pistol at his head. “He said, ‘Give me the keys and get out of the car and start walking,’ ” Gast recalled.

Police believe the sports car has already been dismembered for parts in a “chop shop,” but there have been no arrests.

Gast expects his insurance company to reimburse him for the entire cost of the car, minus a $1,000 deductible.

“I’d been waiting to get the Porsche for a while, and I finally had the money to do it,” Gast said. “But I didn’t have it for very long. It’s almost not worth buying a nice car anymore.”
