The body of an unidentified man whose hands were tied behind his back was found Saturday night floating face down in the San Diego Bay.

San Diego police and Harbor Patrol officials said the body was found about 6:30 p.m. by a lieutenant commander aboard the Duluth. The body was discovered just south of the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge and near the dock of the Continental Maritime of San Diego Inc.

Harbor Patrol officials retrieved the body and then turned the case over to San Diego police homicide detectives.

Though no identity was immediately known, officials said it appeared that the body had been in the water about week.
