Wilt Can Always Be Counted On to Take Some Shots at Kareem

Share

What’s the deal with Wilt Chamberlain? Every year he shows up at the playoffs and bad-mouths Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

This year Wilt was at it again, saying Abdul-Jabbar should have quit five years ago; that No. 33 is only good for making money.

When Chamberlain was playing, 6-foot 9-inch centers were not uncommon. Today’s guards measure up to that. Most teams have 7-footers coming off the bench. I’d like to see Wilt score 100 points with Mark Eaton standing in the paint. Obviously, Kareem couldn’t do it either. He wouldn’t try. What’s more likely to happen would be Abdul-Jabbar drawing Eaton and another defender close, then dishing off to a leaping James Worthy. Two points--for the team, not the individual.
