Coming soon to a cable channel near you (maybe): “The Ku Klux Klan Hour.” The Grand Wizard of a central Florida Klan chapter announced that he has submitted the first segment of a proposed Klan public access cable TV show to his local cable company, and now it is up to the company to decide whether to air it. Tony Bastanzio, 32, said he is waiting for a response from Storer Communications’ operations manager, Tony Pupo, who has not decided whether to air “Florida Klan News,” his secretary said. She declined to confirm that the 30-minute tape had been submitted. Local government, not federal broadcast regulators, controls public access stations--and the basic requirement is technical acceptability. A Florida county attorney has indicated there is probably nothing illegal about the proposed Klan broadcast, and Bastanzio said he has raised enough money to pay the $200-per-episode station fee for at least three segments.
