PLACES TO GO, PEOPLE TO SEE
According to the Southern California Assn. of Governments, the number of daily “person trips” taken in a five-county Southern California region will increase 28% during the period 1984-2010. A “person trip” is defined as a trip taken by any person(s) by any mode from a point of origin to a destination. Orange County residents will be taking 35% more trips by the time 2010 rolls around, an increase that will account for one-fifth of all such journeys taken in the five-county SCAG region. And you thought the freeways were crowded now.

WORK-RELATED TRIPS
Almost exactly in line with the projected increase in all “person trips” is the upswing in the projected portion of those trips that fall into the home-to-work category. This version of our daily peregrinations will also rise 28% in the five-county region, with a 38% increase taking place in Orange County. By 2010, 23% of all such passages will be happening here.
