SMOKIN’ AND JOKIN’: Apparently Guy (Lombardo) Kemp has finally worn out his welcome at KMPC-FM. The Rock Radio Pit Bull was on vacation last week, but you’re going to have to stay up awfully late to hear him when he returns Monday. His new shift: midnight to 6 a.m. Pat (Paraquat) Kelly has taken over the station’s morning reins. . . . This just in from our “What Has Rock ‘n’ Roll Come To?” File: When Chicago hits the road this summer--the band opens its U.S. tour Friday in Birmingham, Ala.--the group will traveling on two tour buses. Are the guys finally getting on each others nerves after all these years? Nope--one bus is for smokers, the other for nonsmokers. “When we talk about clearing the air,” founding member (and nonsmoker) Robert Lamb said, “We really mean it.” . . . Country cut-up Kinky Friedman, whose new mystery novel is “When the Cat’s Away,” will be at the International Cat Show in Anaheim this Friday, pickin’ and singin’, and autographing copies of his new book. . . . And ouch!: Glass Tiger singer Alan Frew was in the hospital having arthroscopic surgery on his knee, which he injured during a benefit soccer match in Toronto against Iron Maiden.
