For the second straight week, Peter Jacobsen is atop the leader board going into the final round of a PGA Tour event, and this time, he said he doesn’t intend to let victory slip away.

“I’m planning on the 69 being my highest round of the week,” Jacobsen said after that 2-under-par score left him tied for the lead with Kenny Knox and Tom Sieckmann after Saturday’s third round of the $650,000 Anheuser-Busch golf tournament at Richmond, Va.

In last week’s Western Open, Jacobsen took a four-shot lead into the final round, only to lose the tournament by one stroke when he took a double-bogey 6 on the 72nd hole.

One shot back was 1985 winner Mark Wiebe, who shot a 64, the day’s best round.

U.S. Open champion Curtis Strange, whose home is on the Kingsmill grounds, had a 69 and was at 204. Fuzzy Zoeller (69), Scott Hoch (69) and Billy Ray Brown (66) were tied with Strange.

Jerry Pate and Tom Purtzer, both of whom began the day two shots behind Jacobsen, had trouble. Pate matched par with a 71 and was at 205, one shot ahead of Purtzer, who had a 72.

Japan’s Ayako Okamoto, seeking her third victory of the season, shot a 4-under-par 67 and pulled into a tie with Terry-Jo Myers for the 54-hole lead in the $400,000 Mayflower tournament at Indianapolis.

Myers, looking for her first victory in four years on the LPGA Tour, shot a 68 to join Okamoto at 8-under-par 205 heading into today’s final round at the Country Club of Indianapolis.

Jerilyn Britz also made a move on the leaders, shooting a 67 that left her at 207. She was joined by Amy Alcott, who had to settle for a par round after a bogey on the 18th hole.
