Local News in Brief : Irvine : Pool Resurfacing Suspected in Blaze
Orange County Fire investigators worked into the night Tuesday to determine the cause of a house fire on Mill Creek that apparently started in a back-yard swimming pool.
The blaze broke out around 12:20 p.m. and 25 firefighters controlled it within 21 minutes, fire officials said.
“Fire investigators believe the source of the fire may be linked to resurfacing work that was being completed on a back-yard swimming pool,” Irvine police officer David Stormer said Tuesday.
Apparently, a work crew was using some type of chemical-based material to resurface the pool. The fire started when the crew was away a lunch break, fire officials said.
