Freedom Bowl Gets New Date and Time
The 1988 Freedom Bowl will be played on Dec. 29 at Anaheim Stadium, Tom Starr, the game’s executive director, announced Tuesday.
The last three Freedom Bowl games have been played on Dec. 30.
The Freedom Bowl committee also moved the game time to 6 p.m. The previous games had started at 5 p.m.
The committee moved the game to prevent a possible conflict with the Rams. The Freedom Bowl’s contract with Anaheim Stadium prohibits the game being played within 24 hours of a Ram game. The National Football League playoffs are scheduled for Dec. 25-26, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
