Buena Park : 2 Killed When Minibus Slams Into Power Pole
Two people died Thursday morning when the 1972 Volkswagen minibus in which they were riding hit a power pole, police said.
The passenger was identified as Michelle B. Perez, 19 of Stanton. The driver, a 36-year-old male, was not identified pending notification of relatives, Buena Park Police Officer Richard McMillen said.
The accident occurred at 8:57 a.m., police said, when the minibus was traveling north on Western Avenue just south of Orangethorpe Avenue and hit the pole on the right side of the street.
“It (the pole) just went right through the middle of the car,” McMillen said.
Perez was pronounced dead at Humana Hospital-West Anaheim and the unidentified man was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
