Ishikawa Shoots 71 for 4-Stroke Victory
Megumi Ishikawa overcame a bogey on the first hole to card a 71 and post a four-shot, come-from-behind victory in the women’s Junon Open golf tournament, her first career victory.
The 22-year-old Ishikawa, a three-year pro, bogeyed the 453-yard, par first hole, but birdied the 10th and 17th holes and finished three trips over the 6,306-yard, par-72 Jomoshinrin Country Club course at 2-under-par 214.
The victory was worth $58,500.
Taiwan’s Tu Ai-yu, who shared the second-round lead with Mayumi Chihara, had a final-round 76 and a 218 total to finish tied for second with Hiromi Takamura, who had a 73 Sunday.
