Unseeded Marty Davis continued a string of upsets in the Volvo International tennis tournament Thursday by eliminating fifth-seeded Aaron Krickstein, 6-3, 6-4, at Stratton Mountain, Vt.

Davis, 2-3 in his career against Krickstein, waited out a four-hour rain delay and came from behind twice. There were four consecutive service breaks in the second set until the ninth game, when Davis held serve and then broke Krickstein to close out the match.

“The second set, I felt much less in control than the first set because I was coming from behind,” Davis said. “I felt he was returning better. He was jamming me. He was hitting the ball right at me. I felt I was handcuffed a bit.”
