Bar Patron Stabs Security Guard in Struggle at San Diego Bar
The security guard at a downtown San Diego bar was stabbed three times while trying to keep a customer from leaving the establishment with a beer, police said.
Mario Beltran Villanueva, 28, who works at the Lucky Lady Bar, 455 16th St., was treated at UC San Diego Medical Center for his wounds. He had tried to stop an unidentified customer from leaving with a beer, which is illegal, about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, and was attacked by the man’s friend, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
The two struggled, and Villanueva was stabbed in the back, shoulder and left leg.
Jose Martinez, 25, was treated at UCSD Medical Center for minor facial injuries and was later booked into County Jail on $10,000 bail. He was being held on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
