Todd Witsken earned his first singles semifinal berth in a Grand Prix tournament, beating 13th-seeded Jim Pugh, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Top-seeded Boris Becker of West Germany downed Yahiya Doumbia of Senegal, 6-2, 6-3, to advance to the semifinals. He’ll meet Witsken.

Argentina’s Alberto Mancini, seeded 15th, upset top-seeded Henri Leconte of France in just 49 minutes, 6-1, 6-1, in a $290,000 clay court tournament at Kitzbuhel, Austria.

Leconte said he had played without interruption since March and felt drained, adding that he did not like to play at an early hour. Friday’s match began at 10 a.m. and was interupted by rain.

Debbie Graham, 17, of Fountain Valley, discarded her strategy and charged the net to beat Lisa Bonder-Kreis of Los Angeles, 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, and advance to today’s semifinals of a $100,000 tournament in San Diego. She’ll oppose second-seeded Stephanie Rehe.

Ann Grossman also reached the semifinals with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jennifer Santrock. Grossman will face fourth-seeded Rosalyn Fairbank.
