Del Mar
One person was killed and another injured in a single-car accident on Black Mountain Road east of Del Mar on Wednesday. Driver David Pierce, 20, of Rancho Penasquitos, lost control of his car, causing it to roll over, a police spokesman said. His passenger, Todd Shepherd, was pronounced dead at the scene. Pierce, who suffered minor injuries, was not cited, police said.
