Congress has formally approved plans for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in eastern Ventura County.

Plans for tha $40-million, Spanish-style library, planned for a greenbelt area between Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks, were submitted to Congress in May by the National Archives and Records Administration. Approval was expected.

Ventura County officials must also approve the project, which will hold an estimated 52,600 cubic feet of archives from the two-term Reagan presidency. County hearings begin Aug. 31 and should continue through fall.
