Police had no suspects Sunday in the shooting of two Sepulveda men who were ambushed with shotguns as they walked down a street near their homes.
Jamal Walker Garcia, 19, and Arthur A. Gonzales, 20, told investigators that they were walking home from a party about 3 a.m. Saturday when two men sprang from a clump of bushes in the 9700 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue and opened fire with 12-gauge shotguns, Los Angeles Police Lt. Frank Malen said.
Gonzales was struck in the chest and abdomen and was in serious condition at a local hospital, Malen said. Garcia was treated for less serious wounds of his arms and legs, the lieutenant said.
The two armed men entered the cab of a pickup truck, driven by a third man, and fled north on Hayvenhurst Avenue, Malen said.
“We don’t know why they shot them,” Malen said.
